Game Time

Victoria Carwhile, President of the Hide and Seek Club at Texas State University, shouts over her fellow hide and seekers as they are about to engage in a night full of fun and exciting games!

Carwhile is a Senior at Texas State University and is studying Communication Design and Photography.

During her freshman year at Texas State, Carwhile's residential adviser along with some of her friends started up the Hide and Seek Club. During her second semester st Texas State she joined the club and began working on the social media aspects of the club and how to get there name out their for new members to join.

"My sophomore year is when i became an officer i started off as the web person who was in charge of the social media and stuff," said Carwhile.

The following fall semester she became the president of the club and has been ever since.

"Basically I make the announcements at the meetings, I make sure that people know the rules and things like that our vice president helps me with that," said Carwhile when asked of the roles of the president. "I am in charge of the tracs page and our facebook page because we kind of lost our media role and it's become more of a points management and so we kind of changed things," said Carwhile.

Even though the club has a facebook page and a twitter page, it's still hard to get their name out there to everyone so they rely also on word of mouth to inform possible new members of all the games and prizes they have to offer.

The club plays a variety of games which includes: Hide and Seek, Tag, Freeze Tag, Toilet Tag, Zombie Tag, Assasins, Capture the Flag, Red Rover, Total Elimination (like capture the flag) and Dodgeball.

New memebers are welcome to join at any time and the first couple of weeks are free for anyone who would like to try it out. After the first couple of weeks new members wanting to join will have to pay 5 dollars for the semester and fill out a waiver form with their email address.

Their are also rewards for the good gamers out there! If you attend and participate and win you will receive points. The person at the end of the semester with the most points will earn different prizes. They will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for the chance to win gift cards.

The Hide and Seek Club is an awesome way to get to know different students at Texas State. If you're ever bored or have nothing to do on a Wednesday night come join Victoria Carwhile and the hide and seekers!
